The pharmaceutical industry agreed with the government on Saturday to spend $80 billion over the next decade improving drug benefits for seniors on Medicare. President Barack Obama would be pleased because it will push forward his campaign for better health care in the United States.
Sen. Max Baucus, chairman of the Senate Finance Committee said that the deal between the drug industry and the government will help prices of medicines to drop and making them more affordable especially when Medicare benefits don’t cover the cost of medical prescriptions. ”
President Barack Obama praised the deal. The deal marked a major triumph for Sen. Baucus as well as the administration.
