One of the biggest Vesakh celebrations in 2009 was held at Borobudur Temple, Magelang, Indonesia. I read about this in an article whose writer followed the celebration from the beginning in the morning until late at night. The peak event was a show called “Trail of Civilization 2009”, which was performed by six countries in South Asia who pioneered the Borobudur Declaration. As written in the article, many tourist and monks worldwide also came to attend the big celebration.
