The Dragon Boat Festival

I read an article about Dragon Boat Festival in China, which particularly focuses on the way of celebrating the festival nowadays. As written in the article, with mandatory holiday, dragon boat racing, and sticky rice, this obviously shows that the festival is now a business. People have lost the real meaning in Dragn Boat Festival. The boats should have represented the villagers frantic attempt to save a noble patriot, while the splashing paddles and beating drums are actually meant to scare the fish so that they don’t eat the idealistic corpse of died patriot. Rice is also thrown in the river as an attempt to scare the fish. Now the festivals aren’t really communicating that history and culture anymore. Read the article for more information about Dragon Boat Festival: the history, culture, deviation, current condition, and some great photographs. Read here.
