The concept of food pyramid

While I was surfing, I found an article that associates food pyramid with healthy food we’re supposed to eat. The author writes that it has all reflected in the pyramid. From the top through the bottom of the pyramid all have meanings. The bottom, the widest area, consists of vegetables, fruits, etc that you are supposed to eat the most. While the top consists of the food you also need, but in lesser portion. The shape implies that not all foods are equal, even when healthy foods such like fruits are in the ingredients (see the difference between an apple and an apple pie?). So that’s it.
