Strong brands at recession time

Many companies place deep focus on their brands. We also read in books about how a strong brand is a vital property of company. Strong brands have place in customers’ heart and the goodwill can be really great. But is a strong brand recession proof? Here I found an article that looks at performance of some companies with strong brands at current recession time. As the article writes, there are two companies whose brands are really strong since they still gain customer’s loyalty even when spending money is a big pressure.
