Giving a good compliment

This is from a great article I found in a blog. The writer was a social-nerd and introvert. He picked up this skill to help him, and until the moment still use it to open up conversations, give people a lift, while raising his self esteem. The skill is about how to give a good compliment. I read this and just realize “wow, he wasn’t much different from me. I can use his tips too!”

  1. Make your compliment specific. The more specific is the better because you make the person feel like you notice and care. Be specific about what you are complimenting.
  2. Back up your compliment with a reason. If you just stop, it will probably not sound like a sincere one.
  3. Ask a question. Ask, for example, about where he/she get the things you’re complimenting. This will really start a conversation and you just need to let it flow.
