Business or pleasure tourism ?

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

Hotels have two types of customers, so two types of businesses :

1. Business tourist

2. Pleasure tourist

The first ones usually occure in large cities like Bucharest, Timisoara, Budapest, Rome, while the pleasure tourist can be met in national touristic points or small touristic stations. Which one are more profitable ? That is a question only the hotels manager could answer.

Yet, business services have always had better prices for the managers, but at greater investments. Except that, business tourism is more stable, compared to pleasure tourism, since there is no importance regarding seasons or holidays.

What kind of a tourist are you most of the times ? A business tourist or a pleasure tourist ? Either way, you can find a good place to accomodate in Timisoara at any time. Read more on cazare in Timisoara.

Women’s tour

Thursday, July 9th, 2009

I’m sure you have heard about this before. Now I want to share what I read from Deanna Keahey’s article about the topic. Some travel destinations have focused on this industry since years ago. The tour is for women only, because it is purposed for fair sex. They are arranged in groups to watch erotic show of men, and maybe further. Most of the women who do this are divorced women and widows, but there are also married women, single women, group of girlfriends, distant friends, the girls, and mother-daughter. The reasons of joining such tours are individual, but mostly want to have fun alone with woman friends, without their husband being there. Read why they choose such tours and how the tour goes on this article.

Vesakh : Trail of Civilization 2009

Friday, July 3rd, 2009

One of the biggest Vesakh celebrations in 2009 was held at Borobudur Temple, Magelang, Indonesia. I read about this in an article whose writer followed the celebration from the beginning in the morning until late at night. The peak event was a show called “Trail of Civilization 2009”, which was performed by six countries in South Asia who pioneered the Borobudur Declaration. As written in the article, many tourist and monks worldwide also came to attend the big celebration. It was really a big day, started by ceremonial and procession, ended by the performance of the six countries in “Trail of Civilization 2009”. It was a combination of religion and culture. Read more about the meaning of the event, the show, and the six countries here.

Spend vacation at Nanjing, China

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

I tell you frankly, articles about traveling to China in this site I came across are really the best of those I’ve read so far. They explain the city/country so well, included some pictures that just make us wonder more. This time I get one about Nanjing. First thing you see on the article is a picture of Qinhuai River at night, absolutely beautiful and romantic! Then there are descriptions about what the city has to offer, the food, local traditional food, where to get them, the historical places, and even a bit of the city’s history. Some of their pictures are also there, so they can help your imagination. If you are thinking about traveling to China, this article will make you consider Nanjing. Read here.

The Dragon Boat Festival

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

I read an article about Dragon Boat Festival in China, which particularly focuses on the way of celebrating the festival nowadays. As written in the article, with mandatory holiday, dragon boat racing, and sticky rice, this obviously shows that the festival is now a business. People have lost the real meaning in Dragn Boat Festival. The boats should have represented the villagers frantic attempt to save a noble patriot, while the splashing paddles and beating drums are actually meant to scare the fish so that they don’t eat the idealistic corpse of died patriot. Rice is also thrown in the river as an attempt to scare the fish. Now the festivals aren’t really communicating that history and culture anymore. Read the article for more information about Dragon Boat Festival: the history, culture, deviation, current condition, and some great photographs. Read here.

The traditional Chinese marriage

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

I found a great article that discusses the ancient Chinese marriage. We know from movies that the marriage is so complicated and traditional: many rules and details to be followed. Just not so long ago, the process was still following the six general categories that had been held for ages. Now it is much easier. The brides and grooms can hand all the “modern” responsibilities to wedding organizers or even family members they trust. There are no more complicated rules. All they need to finish personally might be only for motorcade choice, gowns, and photographer. See how such big culture could change in years. I suggest you read the article if you are interested in history, culture, and traditional marriage. Read here.

Beijing Planning Exhibition Centre

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

I read in article that Beijing has a big modern facility called Beijing Planning Exhibition Center. Since Beijing is predicted to face a big challenge with the rampant growth and environment degradation, the city has to settle with the problem of transportation to waste-water management. The facility itself is a modern three-story building featuring all sorts of high tech displays. Each of the floors has a massive aerial and model recreation of greater Beijing in coming years, showing all the detail buildings, homes, or whatever across the city including the infrastructure. Every little thing such as railway, air pollution, highways, subway lines, tunnel, etc has been included in the modeling. What a great planning ahead! Look at the photographs, you will be amazed of the built models. Read here.

The greenest city in China

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

The greenest city in China, Dongtan (which is located near Shanghai), will have its first condos and commercial space for sale in the market by 2010. A bridge and tunnel to get residents to Shanghai airport and financial district will also be built. By 2050, the city is estimated to be populated by 500,000 residents. The city’s build will also be used to test the theory that it can get greener as it develops. Feel like a dream? I hope the theory will be proven so that many cities can follow and learn from China. I don’t know how it will be, but China must be really great if they can keep the city green while providing a place for so many people to live. Read the article here. You can also see some pictures of the city at current condition.

Yunnan’s Redlands

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Yunnan means ”South of the Clouds”, a land that has rich water and sienna red soil. It is one of the few regions in China where you can really feel the moisture re-hydrating you. As what I read in an article, this fertile red earth also has dense flora, amazing waterfall, stone forest and valleys. You can see many imaginative formation of stone in the forest, such as: rampant bears, sleeping bears, Versailles, peacocks, medieval masonry, and sclaed-down Great Wall. Yunna has three historical towns: Shiyang, Lijiang, and Dali. The less traveled is Shiyang, a town where people still make salt traditionally. These red lands are extremely beautiful, as the pictures presented and described in the article. I’m sure you will start imagining after reading it. Read here.

The peaceful Xitang

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Xitang is a very quiet, peaceful, warm, and inviting small river town. It is divided into eight parts by nine rivers, with a total of 104 bridges to unite them. Most of the buildings have not been rebuilt much and still keep their historical attraction. In fact, many of the residents make exhibitions of old wood carvings, cultural relics, and inscription rubbing to attract tourists. Many of the houses’ rooftops have growing grass. The foods are made of natural qualities and steamed rather than artificial and fried. These are just part of the tourist attraction, not yet to include the boat ride that is as mandatory as you would find in Venice. There is not bridge of sighs and no gondoliers. If you are interested to know more about this city and see some great photographs of it, read this article.
