Landon Donovan

Football news, At the recent Confederation’s Cup Finals, the United States lost to Brazil with the score of 2 – 3. But despite the loss the United States players say that it was an encouraging but a little bit disappointing loss.

The Americans could have won the Cup, for they led 2 – 0 at half time but when the second half begun Brazil took hold of the game. They scored their first goal minutes after the second half begun.

Landon Donovan they say is the best player in the United States football team. He led the team with his 41 goals. Carlos Bocanegra, US captain said that Donovan was the most consistent and that he leads by example especially when Bocanegra was injured and Donovan replaced him as captain.

Kaká in Confederations Cup

Kaká scored a penalty kick to give Brazil 4-3 lead and victory after an Egyptian player got a red card for stopping a shot with his arm last monday. On thursday with a 3-0 win over the Americans, Kaká led a furious counterattack, which led to a fantastic goal.

Real Madrid bought Kaká for $92 million from A.C. Milan this month.

Landon Donovan, United States team’s captain, said that Kaká is a fantastic player and he does a great job of just moving the ball and keeping things going. And then when he sees an opportunity he takes advantage of it by giving a great pass or scoring a goal himself.

Grizzlies hold key to 2009 draft

The Memphis Grizzlies are trying to talk tough because they have the No. 2 pick on the NBA draft, saying they are not afraid to draft Ricky Rubio using their pick but no one believes them.

Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace, finds himself in a tough spot. He has a doubtful owner, Michael Heisley, who is still angered by the the trade using Pau Gasol, and a player agent, Dan Fegan, threatening to embarrass the Grizzlies franchise should it try to take Rubio.

Wallace is also liking the University of Memphis freshman Tyreke Evans, but thinks he could still get him without using their No. 2 pick. Nothing happens in this draft until the Grizzlies make a decision; then we will know.

Sanchez, Guida both winners after epic fight

It didn’t take long for Diego Sanchez to cement himself as a legitimate contender for the Ultimate Fighting Championship lightweight title after beating Clay Guida in one of the most dramatic fights in company history at the Palms, Las Vegas on Saturday night. He’s a completely different fighter today, mixing punches, kicks and knees with his already strong submission game.

He bloodied Guida badly from the first bout, and put him down with a kick, all in a fast-paced first round. Other fighters would have surrendered after the beating Sanchez gave, but Guida did not accept defeat and won the second round. Guida even almost took the third round from Sanchez, giving Sanchez the win through a split decision.

Tévez Set to Leave Manchester United

Carlos Tévez, the Argentine striker rejected the offer of a new contract with the English Premier League champion Manchester United and will leave the club.

An Aggressive type of footballer, Tévez is a crowd favorite at Old Trafford, Manchester United. Tévez joined United on an initial two-year loan deal from West Ham United in August 2007. He scored 34 goals in 98 games.

On the Manchester United’s Web site a statement said that United had offered Carlos Tévez a five-year, $41.71 million contract. With this contract i could have made Tévez one of the Manchester United’s highest-paid players. MU recently agreed to transfer the player Cristiano Ronaldo to Real Madrid club of Spain for a record $131 million fee.

Nadal wins over Nalbandian

The No. 1 tennis player in the world, Rafael Nadal, was disappointed despite hi win over Argentine David Nalbandian. He said that he was not happy with his performance specially in the first two sets.

The game was scored 3-6, 7-6 and the third 6-0. Nalbandian only won the first set.

Nadal is said to have some “manias” as the Spaniards would call it, or also called his on-court tics. He is said to be messy at home so he makes his game rituals precise.

Lakers as Nba Champ, but…

Yes the Lakers leave no doubt that they will try for another championship run next year for they won their fourth NBA championship since 2000.

But, major concerns would need to be acknowledged. First of all, Coach Phil Jackson, getting his 10th Championship, might leave the Lakers. The small forwards, Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza are both in the free agency and the Lakers are not sure if they can resign both.

Well all said and done, we will have to wait and see what the future hold for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Spain Undefeated

Winning, a word a year ago people would say is impossible for Spain’s football club for they were called an underachieving team. A team that never wins the needed games on the important tournaments. But not now, Spain won it’s 14th consecutive victory with a 1 – 0 win over Iraq. And Spain now has a record of being unbeaten in thirty four consecutive matches.

Iraq Coach Bora Milutinovic described that the Spaniards played a “happy football”. Also stating that they have superior talent and that they play spectacular football.
