Chinese horoscopes

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Do you know what your horoscope is? Is it Scorpio, Libra, Virgo, or Leo? They are western horoscopes, not the Chinese’s. Do you know what the Chinese’s are? The Chinese horoscopes consist of 12 animals as the symbol. The difference: the Chinese horoscopes are in year, while the Western are in month. Which animals rule you depends on your birth year, and it’s a repeated cycle for every 12 years. There are Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Cockerel, Dog, and Pig. You can check more about which years get which animals in an article I found. Characteristics that stick to each animal symbol are also explained there. Read the article here.

12-animal cycle of 12 Chinese years

Chinese years are a combination of twelve animals, each has personality, and there are also five elements that change in turn every two years. The combination of both, animal and element, make it a longer cycle. I came across an interesting article that writes about this. Every twelve years, the same animal is back for a year. If you are born on 1986, you are a Tiger. It takes another twelve years, 1998, to have another Tiger year. The article I read also provides the characteristics for each animal, so you can check yours and conclude if they make sense. In Chinese tradition, you can also see whether you will make harmonious relationship with certain animal symbols or not. Most of the characteristics are implied from the animal’s nature. Read here.
