Vocational international baccalaureate (IB)

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

International baccalaureate (IB) in vocational version will be able in British schools from 2011. This is hard times for such education because pupils’ number is decreasing far from the expected. I read this article in the site of TES. From this little amount, only about 25 percentages that are over 16 or categorized as A-level. Many pupils leave the education at 16. This vocational IB is career-related, so hopefully can attract more pupils and the certificates got can be useful for their futures. If not so, the program will just turn up as another exam alongside A-levels. Many things still be considered, but they are wishing it well. Read the complete article here.

Spend vacation at Nanjing, China

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

I tell you frankly, articles about traveling to China in this site I came across are really the best of those I’ve read so far. They explain the city/country so well, included some pictures that just make us wonder more. This time I get one about Nanjing. First thing you see on the article is a picture of Qinhuai River at night, absolutely beautiful and romantic! Then there are descriptions about what the city has to offer, the food, local traditional food, where to get them, the historical places, and even a bit of the city’s history. Some of their pictures are also there, so they can help your imagination. If you are thinking about traveling to China, this article will make you consider Nanjing. Read here.

Work or play for pupils

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

We are grown in environment that emphasizes the importance of working (learning) instead of playing. Working has always been associated with positive activity, while playing as bad activity. Nowadays, headmasters in some schools have started to stop giving homework. What are happening? As what I read in an article, there are shifting paradigms now. Homework is now a traditional mindset of parents. The headmasters report a better result in overall student performance when homework is stopped, this particularly proven on secondary grades. While for primary grades, the proof is still inconclusive. However this is an interesting point that playing is now viewed as one source of creativity development for students. Chinese horoscopes

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Do you know what your horoscope is? Is it Scorpio, Libra, Virgo, or Leo? They are western horoscopes, not the Chinese’s. Do you know what the Chinese’s are? The Chinese horoscopes consist of 12 animals as the symbol. The difference: the Chinese horoscopes are in year, while the Western are in month. Which animals rule you depends on your birth year, and it’s a repeated cycle for every 12 years. There are Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Ram, Monkey, Cockerel, Dog, and Pig. You can check more about which years get which animals in an article I found. Characteristics that stick to each animal symbol are also explained there. Read the article here.

Make your CV stands out

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

As I’ve written several times before, your CV should get you noticed in some short seconds or it will be thrown away. Here I found another article that also provides good tips to make your CV stands out among those many. The article really understands that even small things matter. Their tips include those on paper color, writing style, highlighted qualifications per each CV sent, and writing check. I might need many references if you are going to apply for job, so I also suggest you read this one. Remember you hardly can apply for the same job in a company twice. If you feel like it is your dream position, then prepare your CV so well that you won’t regret anything when it still doesn’t work. Read the article here.

What your healthy foods turn to

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

This is an article that provides good explanation about how healthy foods can change into “devil” foods. See what is in cod? A 120-gram-grilled cod has 115 calories and 1.4g of fat. It’s a good source of protein and contains potassium, iodine, zinc, and B vitamins. Consider what potatoes have to offer? They are important source of vitamin C, low in fat, have fiber in the skins, potassium, phosphorus, and B vitamins. Read these changes carefully, as written in the article, once they are fried. The same cod now has 450 calories and 28g of fat, and those potatoes now contains 240 calories and 12g of fat! What the frying process has done to them, now you easily gain weight and bad health. Well, I really suggest you read this article for further understanding. Check here.

Great Teacher Onizuka

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Onizuka Eikichi, at the start of the show he is an aspiring teacher. Eventually he becomes a teacher who has a big heart and it shows in every episode as he shows his students how to enjoy school again. We get to know a lot about the students and other characters in his class over the course of the anime. As each of their problems are solved, there is a visible change in their attitude. There are just enough episodes for us to get to know and care about all of them.

GTO is one of the funniest and most touching anime ever created, as well as one of many anime fans’ favorites.

The animation is pretty good, considering it was made in 1999.

Hajime no Ippo

Sunday, June 28th, 2009

Boxing enthusiast will have fun watching this anime. Hajime no Ippo focuses on the quest of its main character, Ippo, who is a very humble student who packs a huge punch. We see his transformation as he applies himself in life and in his boxing training.

The shows progression is good for the boxers Ippo, his friends and his opponents get stronger and all of the characters develop not just in boxing also in their personality. The show uses the routine of a boxer, training, fighting, and reflecting for each of the matches that Ippo and his friends fight in.

While the animation and character design could put down the show, it strengthen the shows appeal by making almost every episode action packed. Also the show keeps a good pacing of events. Additionally the show is not a serious one, it is full of comedy as Ippo goes through normal life.
